Kelsey Keown Named NISL Top Point Scorer

Memphis, Tennessee (June 8, 2022) – Memphis Americans Midfielder Kelsey Keown has won the National Indoor Soccer League’s Top Point Scorer award.

Keown helped the Memphis women’s squad to a 15-4 record in the regular season on their way to winning the NISL 2021-22 Women’s Championship. Kelsey amassed 13 goals (Tied for 2nd in the NISL) while dishing out 8 assists (3rd in the NISL), totaling 21 points in the regular season, averaging 1.2 points per game.

In addition to her impressive regular season, Keown turned in a superb playoff performance, leading the Americans in playoff points (5).  Keown tallied a goal and an assist in the American’s semi-final victory against Fayettville Fury, and then posting two more goals along with the game winning assist against the Rome Gladiators en route to win the first ever NISL Women’s Championship.

Keown, an Atlanta native, is a product of the Concorde Fire soccer academy.  No stranger to championship games, Keown won 3 Georgia State Championships before moving to play for the University of Memphis and Lobos Rush WPSL team.  “It’s always an honor to be recognized for achievements I make while playing the sport that I love. Playing for the Americans gave me the opportunity to showcase what I do best, but it would not have been possible without my coaches, teammates, and the support from the Memphis community. I am beyond grateful to be playing at this level, and proud to be a part of such a special team.”

“Kelsey was consistently the best midfielder in the league last year,” says Head Coach, Corey Adamson.  “Beyond all the points she scored, the plays she made off the ball on offense, defense, and in transition play were a major factor in the success this team had this season.”
