NISL Leading Scorer Kelsey Keown Back Re-Signs


Memphis, TN – Memphis Americans Midfielder Kelsey Keown, the National Indoor Soccer League’s Top Scorer re-signs for the 2022/2023 season.


Keown helped the Memphis women’s squad to a 15-4 record in the regular season, leading the way in overall points during both the regular season and the NISL Playoffs, en-route to winning the NISL 2021-22 Women’s Championship. Kelsey amassed 13 goals (Tied for 2nd in the NISL) while dishing out 8 assists (3rd in the NISL), totaling 21 points in the regular season, averaging 1.2 points per game. In addition to her impressive regular season, Keown turned in a superb playoff performance, leading the Americans in playoff points (5).


Keown, an Atlanta native, is a Concorde Fire product. No stranger to championship games, Keown won 3 Georgia State Championships before moving to play for the University of Memphis and Lobos Rush WPSL team. “Kelsey is by far the best midfielder in the league. What she contributes both off the ball to force turnovers, interceptions, and tackles, and the creativity and goal scoring ability she displayed on offense put our team in position to win games,” says Head Coach, Corey Adamson. “Without a doubt, re-signing 10 {Keown}, is a huge step forward toward repeating as NISL Champions.”

ABOUT NATIONAL INDOOR SOCCER LEAGUE (NISL)


The National Indoor Soccer League was founded in January 2021 by a group of seasoned sports team/league owners with over 50 years of ownership experience. The league features both a Men's & Women's Division, competing in double header game days over a 20-game regular season that takes place between the months of December and April. Current teams include Central FL Crusaders (Orlando), Columbus Rapids (Georgia), Fayetteville Fury, Memphis Americans, Rome Gladiators (Georgia), and Tampa Bay Strikers.
