
Tampa, FL – The Tampa Bay Strikers have announced the signing of Puerto Rican women's national team defender Madison Cox. She becomes the second women's player signed to the team for their inaugural campaign in the NISL.
"We are excited to bring Tampa native and Puerto Rican National Women’s Team player, Madison Cox, to the Tampa Bay Strikers. Vamos con todo!!" said Strikers Head Coach Martin Gramatica.
In June of 2021 Cox was called up to the Puerto Rican women's national team. In October 2021 she scored her first goal for the national team in a match vs Guyana.
“It’s a privilege to be a part of the Tampa Bay Strikers and play for my hometown on the professional level. I am looking forward to the work ahead,” said Madison Cox.
Cox has played for Tampa Bay United in USL W League, and WPSL. She started her collegiate career at University of Tampa where she was named captain as a freshman. She earned second team All-SCC, second team 2014 NCAA Division II South Region. Cox also was a member of the UT track and field team.
Cox finished her collegiate career at Grand Canyon University where she played and started in 58 out of 58 career games. She was named second team All-WAC in 2015, and 2016.
ABOUT NATIONAL INDOOR SOCCER LEAGUE (NISL): The National Indoor Soccer League was founded in January 2021 by a group of seasoned sports team/league owners with over 50 years of ownership experience. The league will compete in a 20-game regular season. Each city will have a team in both the Men's & Women's Divisions. Games will be played as doubleheaders. The NISL is committed to promoting and supporting our member teams, while providing an avenue for players, coaches, and front office staff to develop their skills and gain exposure for opportunities at higher levels, all while providing high-quality affordable entertainment in the communities we serve.
